Flag of Moldova available in 100% Polyester fabric and various measures from 060X100 to 150x300. Particularly suitable for outdoor use and manufactured in European union.
Origin:
The three colors of the flag are derived from the historical banners of the principalities of Moldova (traditionally red and blue) and Wallachia (traditionally blue and yellow), whose roots date back to the Middle Ages. The current tricolor (blue, yellow, red) prevails during the 1848 revolution. At that time, the supporters of the national awakening in the Romanian principalities sought a unique sign of rallying. They merge the colors of the two principalities into vertical bands to assert their unity and Latin identity, while drawing inspiration from the French tricolor model, a symbol of freedom. The flag of the Republic of Moldova was officially adopted on 27 April 1990, before the proclamation of independence from the USSR in 1991.
History :
As early as the 14th century, Moldova adopted the head of an aurochs (a wild ox) as its specific coat of arms. This heraldic symbol, accompanied by a star between the horns, a rose and a crescent moon, appeared on medieval banners, most often on a red background.
The modern flag reappears during the national revival movement in the late 1980s. During the Soviet period (Moldovan SSR), the tricolor was banned and replaced by a red flag loaded with a horizontal green stripe and communist symbols. In 1990, lParliament officially reinstates the tricolor Blue, Yellow, and Red. To mark its sovereignty while honoring its roots, Moldova inserts the national coat of arms (the eagle holding the head of aurochs) in the center of the yellow band. In 2010, a law changed the manufacturing rules: the back of the flag must no longer be "empty" but present the mirror image of the coat of arms, making the Moldovan flag distinct from the Romanian flag on both sides.
Signification :
The national flag of Moldova consists of three vertical stripes of equal dimensions: blue, yellow and red, with the state coat of arms in the center.
A strong symbolism: Although their origin is linked to the princely banners, these colors are today attributed with deep values:
- The Blue: Symbolizes heaven, freedom, and the yearning for peace.
- Yellow: Represents sunlight, rich farmland, and prosperity.
- The Red: Embodies the courage, strength, and blood shed by ancestors to defend their homeland.
