The flag of Kenya has its origin in the struggle for the independence of this country. The party that carried it out managed to move its flag design as a national emblem. The last month of the year 1963 was proclaimed the independence and it was ruled that that day would be the date of the national holiday. Kenya has an area that exceeds 580,000 square kilometers, in which some 35 million people live.
History :
Approved in December 1963, the Kenyan badge is inspired by the African National Union of Kenya (KANU). It is one of the most peculiar flags that exist. The colors black, red and green were later added some white trimmings with the intention of differentiating the country's flag from the flag of the party that it governed. You can also see the traditional Masai shield, next to two spears.
Meaning :
The black color of the flag of Kenyan refers to the skin color of the ethnic majority of the country. Similarly, red symbolizes the blood shed in the struggle for freedom, and green evokes the nature that adorns the landscapes of Kenya. The white of the borders, on the other hand, invites peace and unity. On the other hand, the Masai shield shares space with two spears that symbolize the defense of freedom.
