Origin :
The flag of Egypt was approved in October 1984, although since the revolution of 1952, in which King Farouk I was deposed, the three horizontal colors are being used.
History :
At the beginning of the 19th century, under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, a red banner with a half moon and a white star was established. Later one was used with three half moons, each with its corresponding five-pointed star, and was in force until 1922, when the United Kingdom recognized the independence of Egypt. In that year he went on to wear a green badge with a white crescent that contained three small white five-pointed stars inside.
From the revolution of 1952 the red, white and black colors were used, arranged horizontally, as it is today, but with a golden eagle that carried a half moon and three stars.
In 1958, Egypt joined Syria to create the United Arab Republic, with an emblem that replaced the eagle by two green stars. This flag was maintained even after both countries separated (1961), until 1972, when the stars gave way to a golden eagle, whose design was modified in 1984 by the current one.
Meaning :
The Egyptian flag is composed of three horizontal stripes of red, white and black, which refer, respectively, to the history of Egypt, the revolution of 1952 and the end of British colonialism.
On the white band, in the center, the shield is arranged: a golden eagle.
