Origin :
The origin of the flag of the USSR is found in the communist party, which was the one that ruled the USSR. The emblem was approved at the end of 1922, when in the first Congress of the Soviets it was concluded that the red badge of the party had become an emblem of the State.
History :
The Soviet Union was created in 1922 with the merger of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Transcaucasian Soviet Socialist Federal Republic.
The first official flag of the USSR, of 1923, is described in the Constitution of 1924, in which it is defined as a red flag with the coat of arms of the State. This was never made and went to another official standard, which is what we all know as the golden hammer and sickle on a red background, and, above them, the yellow five-pointed star.
This is the Soviet flag that was maintained until the dissolution of the USSR, in 1991, although it had slight modifications in 1955 and 1980, but keeping the essential.
Meaning :
As already mentioned, the color red was associated with the Communist Party. As for the symbols of the banner, the sickle represented the workers of the field, while the hammer refers to industrial workers. Finally, the star refers to the communist government.
