This Asian country was a British protectorate - it also belonged to the Ottoman Empire - from the beginning of the 20th century until 1961, the year in which the flag of Kuwait was approved, specifically on September 7. Two months later, on November 24, it was officially hoisted.
History :
Before its independence, the Kuwait flag was totally different from the current one. It was red and white, although the design changed over the years. In 1899 it was of red background with white symbols in the center of a crescent moon and a star, typical of Islam, in addition to the inscription, also in white, centered and in the Arabic language, of the name of the country. In 1909, the moon and the star became larger in the center, and the name of the country became smaller in the upper right corner. In 1915, after becoming a British protectorate, the moon and star were eliminated, and the inscription of the name became centered and large. The white color was chosen by the United Kingdom, and the red one, by Islam.
Meaning :
It contains the pan-Arab colors. It is formed by three horizontal stripes: green, white and red, joined together by a black trapezoid located on the left edge. Green symbolizes the fertility of the earth, white is purity, red is blood on Kuwaiti swords and black is the defeat of enemies.
