The Confederate States of America refers to the country that formed eleven southern states and that was in force from 1861 to 1865, and this is the last flag of the Confederate States of America that was used. The Confederate States were: Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Tennessee and Virginia.
History :
Before Lincoln was president, seven states separated from the United States and four others followed in their footsteps after the outbreak of the Civil War. This new 'country', of which more than a third of its population was made up of slaves, was not recognized internationally, nor by the government of the United States.
According to historians, one of the main causes of the separation was the will of the North Americans to restrict and eliminate slavery.
In 1865 they surrendered and began a process of reconstruction.
Meaning :
The first Confederate flag , called 'Stars and Stripes', was used from 1861 to 1863 and had three horizontal stripes, red, white and red, with a blue square on the upper side attached to the shaft on the that seven stars were drawn, which made reference to the seven first States that separated.
