Origin:

The Flag of Argentina was created by Manuel Belgrano more than two centuries ago, on the 27th of February, 1812. On that day, the intellectual and Buenos multifaceted Buenos Aires hoisted for the first time the light blue and white logo in Rosario.

History:

The Paradox behind it is that until then, both the patriot army and the Spanish army were fighting with the same emblem. But the patriots seeking independence, decided it was time to create an emblem of its own. Thus, Belgrano took this difficult task, and eventually established one that was light blue and white, "according to the colours of the national cockade." On August 23rd, 1812 it was hoisted for the first time in Buenos Aires, where the current Obelisk can be found. And a few years later, in June 1816, the Congress of Tucuman officially recognized the Argentinian flag. On 20 June, the Argentina Flag Day is celebrated in commemoration of the death of Manuel Belgrano, (June 20, 1820).

Meaning :

The choice of colours of the flag of Argentina is not entirely clear. Some people say that Belgrano chose not to weaken the relationship with the Spanish monarchy, as the white and blue were the colours of the House of Bourbon. Another theory is that white symbolized the union between European and American Spaniards; and that the sky is a symbol of freedom. And there are others who argues that the colours come from the mantle of the Virgin. With respect to the sun of 32 rays, it represents the revolution of May 1810, when the independence process began.
