Origin:
In January 1919, an assembly was celebrated in the Malagueña locality of Ronda, specifically in the artists casino salons. The content of this assembly was inspired by this idea, stablished in the Antequera Constitution of 1833 by the Federal Republican Party, to constitute Andalucía as a region, within an Hypothetical federal spanish repuplic.
History:
In the previous mentioned assembly, the symbols that still represent the Autonomous community of Andalucia were established: A verdiblanca flag consisting of three horizontal stripes of equal size, with the colors green, white and green; and a shield with Hercules.
This assembly had as a target to materialize the regionalist aspirations that had been demanded from the so-called Andalucian Centers founded by Blas Infante. In these Andalucian Centers the attention was not only focused on Andalusia, but in Spain and Humanity, as it says the anthem of the region.
The shield was inspired by the city of Cadiz. In its first article, the Law 3/1982 of 21 December on the Anthem and Coat of Andalusia reads:
Meaning:
The chosen colors of the Andalusia flag were selected because, according to Blas Infante (his creator), they were the most appropiate to represent the Restoration Company of a village, never military and always creator of original cultures, directors of Humanity, as it was Andalusia. The shield was inspired by the city of Cadiz. In its first article, the Law 3/1982 of 21 December on the Anthem and Coat of Andalusia reads:
Andalusia has its own shield, which is written taking into account the resolutions of the Assembly of Ronda 1918, as the compound by the figure of a prominent Hercules between two columns, expression of the eternally youthful strength of spirit, holding and taming two lions which represent the strength of the animal instincts, with an inscription at the foot of a legend that says: "Andalusia for itself, for Spain and Humanity" above the background of an Andalusian flag.
Close the two columns a means arc point with the Latin words "Dominator Hercules Fundator" also on the merits of the Andalusian flag.
