Flag of Ghana available in 100% Polyester fabric and various measures from 060X100 to 150x300. Particularly suitable for outdoor use and manufactured in European union.
Origin :
It was created in 1957 by Theodosia Okoh with the aim of replacing the United Kingdom banner, after the country proclaimed its independence.
History :
The flag of Ghana is inspired by that of Ethiopia, which, being the first independent state, was seen as a symbol of the struggle for freedom. Thus, after Ethiopia, the Ghanaian insignia was the first to use the Pan-African colors. From 1958 to 1961, with the Union of African States, the badge employed two black stars instead of one. Later they went to three, until in 1962 he left one again.
From 1964 to 1966 there was another change in the standard, which is that the yellow central strip was replaced by a white one. Since 1966 the red, yellow and green tricolor has been used with a single black star.
Meaning :
The flag of Ghana uses the Pan-African colors, which it has horizontally in three stripes: red, which refers to those who gave their lives in the war of independence; yellow, which symbolizes Ghana's mineral wealth; and green, which represents nature. Likewise, a black five-pointed star is drawn on the yellow strip, which refers to the freedom of the African continent. It is also said that the star refers to the shipping company Black Star Line, which was in charge of returning the black population to Africa.
